That headline might seem strange coming from Southworth. After all, for more than a century we’ve been supplying ergonomic equipment like lift tables, tilters, palletizers, designed to present work to the worker at a convenient, comfortable height (and angle). But the fact is, it’s not always practical (or in some cases possible) to move the items that need to be worked on. In those instances, we move worker.
Aircraft, ships, and other large equipment must be accessed at varying heights, and Southworth can design and fabricate a lifts that will allow workers to perform tasks safely and easily.
But we’re not only talking about variable-height platforms for great big jobs. These units can be smaller, too, such as for stock picking from higher shelves or the vertically stacked compartments of storage carousels.
Offering more flexibility and safety than scaffolding or ladders, worker platforms are stable scissor lifts in stationary or movable configurations, with a multitude of platform sizes and lifting ranges. Southworth works with each customer to accommodate budgetary limitations as well as unique, application-specific requirements.
Options include custom controls; soft start/stop; indexed lifting and lowering; slide-out sections that increase platform size when necessary; fold-down safety gates and handrails; custom deck treatments (non-skid, anti-static, etc.); and bellows skirting that keeps dust, debris, and moisture out of the lift mechanism.
